FAI ARCHITECTS
Office Renovation

BACKGROUND

Completed in 2022, FAI Architects relocated to the 17th floor of the Pan American building in Honolulu, Hawaii.

DESIGN THINKING

The design team endeavored to create a modern and inviting office campus concept, harkening back to the building’s elegant mid-century heritage. The interior, with its use of glass walls and unobstructed views, highlights spectacular views of the Koʻolau Mountain Range, the Pacific Ocean, and urban Waikiki. The office is complete with a sizable conference room, collaboration rooms, executive office spaces, personalized workstations, a rejuvenation and gathering area, and a materials/textiles library. The common areas were designed and furnished to create a space for creative collaboration.

DESIGNER’S TAKE

A design challenge was incorporating the various ceiling elements: soffits, dropped ceiling, TURF Beams, and  Soundstar acoustic products. When we layered in the lighting, the vision came together. It was challenging due to all of the new and existing mechanical equipment, but the result speaks for itself.
